We have a hot take of the week. Zoom CEO Eric Yuan believes that work-life balance doesn’t exist—especially for leaders. He’s given up hobbies to solely focus on work and family, though family remains the top priority when there’s conflict. Yuan believes that the border between work and life has blurred with the rise of remote work. However, he is positive that AI will help shorten working days to 2–3 in the future.
As a father of Gen Z children, he encouraged the younger generations to stay focused and familiarize themselves with AI to brace for an ever-changing world. Despite challenges in today’s job market, he believes preparation is key. Zoom’s explosive growth during the pandemic is now stabilizing, but Yuan remains focused on adapting the company—and its people—for the AI-driven future.
