Self-Taught 11-Year-Old Chinese Boy Builds and Launches His Own Rocket🚀

Yan Hongsen, an 11-year-old from Shaoxing, Zhejiang, is no ordinary child. His extraordinary journey into the world of rockets began at just four years old. After watching the Long March-2 rocket launch, Yan's fascination with space and rockets took off, leading him to teach himself computer programming, physics, and chemistry from a very young age.

In June 2023, Yan achieved a remarkable milestone by launching his first rocket, aptly named “Sen Xing” or “Moving Forward.” Although the rocket's parachute failed to deploy, causing it to crash, Yan remained calm and undeterred. His father, who works in the tourism industry, proudly highlighted his son's composure, stating that the launch was still a success despite the setback.

Determined to improve, Yan delved deeper into programming, writing 600 lines of code for the flight control system of his next rocket. His family has been his biggest supporter, turning their living room into a makeshift research lab. They document and share Yan's progress on his Douyin channel, where he has amassed over 448,000 followers.

Budots: New Trend Alert and This Time From the Philippines! 🇵🇭

DJ Johnrey Masbate’s “Emergency Budots,” a remix of “Dr. Beat” by Miami Sound Machine, went viral due to its Uncanny Valley fun melodies and memorable repetitive “Paging Dr Beat, Emergency.”

Released last December, the song has been used by over 500,000 videos and brought a Filipino dance and music genre- “budots” to global attention. “Budots,” originating from Davao City, was characterized by signature slow hand movements, body twists, and Filipino-style EDM. Initially considered a slum culture, this grassroots genre has recently become the Philippines' new favorite dance.

Widely associated with negative images, DJ Love, the pioneer of the genre, has distanced his work from those stereotypes, bringing new light and public popularity to the genre.

Golden Comeback: Suni Lee's High-Flying Return to Gymnastics Glory🥇

Suni Lee’s “golden” victory in Tokyo may have transformed her life, both for worse and for better. With increasing popularity and worldwide recognition, Suni is juggling numerous responsibilities of media appearances and sports training, all while struggling with health issues. 

This unprecedented rise to fame also hindered her college plan, twisting her life around that she felt the “post-Olympic” blues to her bone. Her deteriorating health forced her to move back to her hometown and stop all the training. However, that could not stop her from following her passion. Against all odds, she gradually returned to the gym and reclaimed her position in the gymnastics field. 

In the Paris Olympics this year, she, along with her American team, has made their redemption, winning the Olympic gold medal in women’s gymnastics to the admiration of many for her strength, resilience, and courage.
