Rainbows Over Bangkok: Thailand to Approve Same-Sex Marriage Law! 🌈

Thailand knows how to rock Pride Month in the best way possible! Thais are now beaming with pride and joy as they are becoming the first Southeast Asian country to recognize same-sex marriage. 

The final reading of marriage equality law just gained overwhelming approval from the country’s senate on Tuesday, before being sent for royal assent. Once approved, the law is expected to be effective 120 days later, making Thailand, along with Taiwan and Nepal, one of the few Asian countries to legalize same-sex marriage. 

Thailand, even though conservative values still linger, has long been welcoming to queer humans and stories, and this law is a hard-won victory- given over two decades of relentless campaigning by activists and politicians. 

It was an uneasy journey, but the land of smiles is trying to ensure everyone has a reason to smile. For now, rainbows are no longer something elusive to chase after but ours to embrace and await.

102-Year-Old Granny China-Born Shopkeeper in Singapore Takes TikTok by Storm With Her Generosity 🍬

Singapore’s 102-year-old “Super Granny,” Sie Choo Yong, has captured many TikTok users with her remarkable generosity at her provision store, Lean Seng Lee Trading.

The TikTok video shows her undercharging a customer while also giving extra snacks. It turns out that Sie's family runs the shop, not for financial gain, but to keep her active and not bored of staying at home. Despite her age, she is capable of long working hours, heavy lifting, and store management with minimal assistance.

This came as no surprise as in her younger years, she used to be a farmer in China, carrying bags up to 60kg (~132 lb).

Sie's story has resonated with many. TikTok viewers have showered her with compliments, calling her a "gem" and "sweet."

Vietnamese is Now an Official Language in San Francisco 🏆

Big wins for the Vietnamese in the Golden Gate City! Recently, San Francisco took steps to acknowledge Vietnamese as an official language, solidifying the city’s reputation for diversity and inclusivity. 

With around 6,800 residents identified as primarily Vietnamese speakers, this ordinance by the San Francisco City Board of Supervisors requires all city government announcements to be translated into Vietnamese. 

Vietnamese joins Chinese, Spanish, and Filipino as recognized languages in the city.
