Yurt to Youth Champion: Gerelt-Od Kherlen Punches His Way to National Boxing Podium and Olympian Dream 🥇

You came from Mongolia, an unfrequented landlocked nomad state; you’re only 12 years old; but your mind stretches further than your age, sprawling across the yurts and borders to the Olympian dream

Gerelt-Od Kherlen, son of a ger district (tent district) on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s capital, was sent to the boxing club by his parents after his chess class was discontinued. A region operated without running water, his hometown drew a silver lining to his newfound hobby: daily water-fetching and firewood-chopping journeys bore him the strength of patience and resilience.

Less than a year later, Gerelt-Od took part in the children’s national boxing competition, where he won third place in the 10-to-12-year-old, 32-kilogram (70-pound) weight category, to his parents’ surprise.

With a clear-set determination and a vision-into-action mindset, Gerelt-Od has the power and Mongolian warrior spirit to be the contender for the Olympian dream.

BMX Star Sakakibara Eyes Olympic Gold After Overcoming Injury and Loss 🚵

From her early years, the Australian-born daughter of a Japanese mother and British father, Saya Sakakibara’s inclination towards biking was apparent, a daily habit that involved biking around different terrains with her brother, Kai in Japan.

She was a young biker, laden with determination and ambitions for her Olympian dream in the making. However, a cruel twist of fate got in the way of both her and her older brother’s path.

Her brother’s post-fall coma and her own clash with another racer just before the finish line stopped her Olympic debut, alongside the negative toll it had on her mental health and preparations for the 2022 season. The bucks didn't stop there when all her passion for BMX was tested by another concussion during World Cup 2022.

Despite the odds, within the sense of unfinished business and bravado, she ultimately upended her contemplative conflict and decided to continue this career. Now a two-time World Cup champion, Sakakibara wants to view her experience at the Olympics Paris 2024 as a statement of her hard-won battle and that her perseverance has paid off.

The Story of Stanley Tse From Being a Dishwasher to an Empire Builder in the UK 🛒

The late Stanley Tse Kwai-tsun's journey from a young Hong Kong migrant to a renowned entrepreneur in London’s Chinatown is a story of hard work and vision.

Arriving in the UK at 17, Tse began working as a dishwasher in Chinese restaurants. He was quickly promoted to line cook, then head chef. Eventually, he started his own restaurant and went on to acquire more.

Struggling to find high-quality Asian ingredients, Tse founded the Asian supermarket chain See Woo, which started in a garage and was easily accessible to home cooks and restaurants.

Tse’s contributions extended beyond business. As president of London’s Chinatown, he supported community centers, and charitable projects, and helped develop Chinese New Year celebrations into one of the largest outside China. His efforts earned him a prestigious green plaque in London’s Chinatown, making him the first Chinese person to receive this honor.
