How Three Friends Bottled Modern India in a Scent
Three childhood friends ā Sai Pogaru, Sachit Sood, and Utkarsh Vijayvargiya ā founded Rahasya, Singaporeās first Indian-inspired niche perfume brand, celebrating modern Indian identity through unique scents. Frustrated by stereotypes in existing Indian fragrances, they created genderless perfumes inspired by personal memories, like monsoon rains and bustling weddings.
Despite industry doubts, Rahasya became the first Singapore brand stocked by Amaris, selling over 650 bottles since launching in late 2024. The brand embraces a scent-first, story-driven approach with immersive marketing and bold design, aiming to expand globally. Their secret Mystery X vials and playful campaigns highlight a fresh, unapologetic take on Indian perfumery.

Seed Starved: Singapore's VC Boom Isnāt Reaching Early-Stage Founders
Singapore captured 92% of Southeast Asiaās US$2B VC funding in H1 2025ābut early-stage founders are still struggling to raise capital. Michael Blakey of Cocoon Capital warns that the regionās lack of seed funding threatens the entire startup pipeline.
He backs first-time and academic founders in deep tech and AI, where startup costs are lower and revenue comes quicker. Without more early-stage bets, the ecosystem risks drying up before the next wave of innovation even begins.
